Abstract

The convergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and robotics has significantly advanced the development of intelligent automation systems for modern smart environments. This study presents a comprehensive review of integrated AI–IoT–robotics frameworks, emphasizing the role of signal processing and image analysis in enabling efficient, adaptive, and autonomous operations. The paper examines conceptual architectures such as Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) and the Internet of Robotic Things (IoRT), highlighting their layered design, sensing–processing–actuation integration, and edge–cloud computing paradigms. Advanced AI techniques, including machine learning, deep learning, and reinforcement learning, are analyzed in the context of real-time decision-making and predictive analytics. The review further explores IoT connectivity frameworks, communication technologies, and network automation strategies supporting large-scale deployments. Significant attention is given to signal processing methods for data acquisition, noise reduction, feature extraction, and real-time analytics, along with computer vision techniques for intelligent perception. Application domains such as smart manufacturing, healthcare, smart cities, agriculture, and transportation are discussed to demonstrate practical relevance. Key challenges, including interoperability, scalability, security, and ethical concerns, are critically evaluated. Emerging trends such as digital twins, edge intelligence, and Industry 5.0 are identified as future research directions. The study highlights the need for unified frameworks and scalable architectures to achieve robust intelligent automation systems.
