Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

The International Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (IJAIML) follows a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the publication of high-quality, original, and scientifically sound research. The journal is committed to maintaining fairness, transparency, and academic integrity throughout the evaluation process.

  1. Initial Editorial Screening

Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes a preliminary evaluation by the editorial office to assess:

  • Relevance to the journal’s scope
  • Compliance with submission guidelines
  • Basic methodological soundness
  • Plagiarism screening (using standard detection tools; similarity threshold typically <10–15%)

Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be returned to authors for correction or rejected at this stage.

  1. Double-Blind Peer Review

All eligible manuscripts are subjected to a double-blind peer review, where:

  • The identities of authors are concealed from reviewers
  • The identities of reviewers are concealed from authors

Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent experts in the relevant field of artificial intelligence, machine learning, or related disciplines.

  1. Reviewer Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers evaluate submissions based on:

  • Originality and novelty of the research
  • Technical and methodological rigor
  • Clarity of presentation and organization
  • Relevance to current research trends
  • Validity of results and conclusions
  • Ethical compliance and reproducibility

Reviewers provide detailed comments and recommendations to assist both the editor and the authors.

  1. Editorial Decision

Based on reviewer feedback, the editorial team makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accept without changes
  • Minor Revision (authors revise within a short timeframe)
  • Major Revision (substantial improvements required; re-review may be needed)
  • Reject

Final decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief or Handling Editor, ensuring consistency and quality.

  1. Revision Process

Authors receiving revision requests must:

  • Address all reviewer comments systematically
  • Provide a point-by-point response document
  • Highlight changes made in the revised manuscript

Revised manuscripts may be returned to reviewers for further evaluation, particularly in cases of major revisions.

  1. Review Timeline

IJAIML strives to ensure an efficient and timely review process:

  • Initial screening: 3–7 days
  • Peer review: 2–4 weeks
  • Final decision: 4–6 weeks from submission

Timelines may vary depending on the complexity of the manuscript and reviewer availability.

  1. Confidentiality and Integrity

All manuscripts are treated as confidential documents. Reviewers and editors must not disclose or use unpublished information for personal or professional advantage.

The journal enforces strict policies against:

  • Reviewer bias or misconduct
  • Conflicts of interest
  • Breaches of confidentiality

  1. Ethical Review Standards

The peer review process is conducted in accordance with:

  • COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers
  • DOAJ Principles of Transparency
  • International best practices in scholarly publishing

Any ethical concerns raised during review will be investigated thoroughly.

  1. Transparency and Quality Assurance

IJAIML is committed to:

  • Maintaining a transparent and accountable review system
  • Ensuring editorial independence
  • Promoting constructive and respectful feedback

The journal may adopt advanced review practices (e.g., open peer review or reviewer recognition systems) in line with evolving global standards.
